Many couples opt for taking a curated photo walk through the city with focus on experiencing all the Christmas light installations and stopping by a cozy café to enjoy a hot cup of coffee with Swedish saffron buns, so typical for this time of year. But once in a while I get requests for truly special shoots including more specific Christmas experiences that Stockholm has to offer in December.

One of the best and most known Christmas markets in central Stockholm is the one in Gamla Stan. It offers truly cozy atmosphere with little shops set up in red huts selling everything from gingerbread cookies to Nordic wool sweaters.
Visiting Reindeers at Skansen
Nothing makes your Nordic Christmas memories like visiting reindeers! And you can do so at Skansen! For a while, because of reconstruction work, reindeers have moved from Skansen during last year but are coming back in December of this year so it's a perfect opportunity for a bit unique couple photoshoot, visiting these magnificent Nordic animals!
Christmas Walk through Gamla Stan with a stop at vintage Swedish Candy Shop
Narrow streets decorated with Christmas lights, Nordic stars in every window and Christmas tree with twinkling lights in front of every little store. That is the atmosphere Gamla Stan has in December and it makes for a perfect backdrop for the couple photoshoot! And why not make a stop at an old vintage Swedish candy shop where you can see directly how the candy is being made and shop some for yourselves?
Ice ring at Kungsträdgården
One of the most romantic places to experience and shoot at during December in Stockholm! Not only can you enjoy watching the crowd enjoy the ice ring, you can join it yourselves! Little tip - if you include this location in your morning couple photoshoot, you'll have the ice ring almost all to yourselves!

It wouldn't be a proper cinematic shoot if we didn't stop for a cup of coffee at one of the café in Stockholm! And it definitely wouldn't be a Swedish experience without the coffee & a bun. Especially in December. Coffee shops in Stockholm offer a wonderful winter atmosphere and are often beautifully decorated before Christmas which adds an extra charm to the experience and the photos. It's also a perfect way how to warm up in between the locations as we explore Christmas Stockholm together.

Weather is a bit of a lottery in the recent years so it's always hard to predict whether it'll be snowing in Stockholm before Christmas. But regardless, Stockholm is beautiful and charming with and without snow, even in December! I always craft the photo walk for my cinematic shoots in a way that shows you the beautiful side of Stockholm curated to the current weather. Because some corners are more charming when there is snow, some of them work perfectly in every weather. The most important thing is to come to take it all in, enjoy the presence of each other and make memories.
