Starting the New Year with "I do!"
cinematic wedding photographer Stockholm
Snowstorm, minus temperatures, disturbed traffic, bride flying to Stockholm from London...Can you imagine all of this the night before your wedding? Because this was the reality for these two back in January.
When I first started talking to the couple about their wedding day their plan was clear - have an intimate wedding ceremony at the Stockholm City Hall with a few of their family members and then wave them goodbye & on a cinematic wedding photoshoot with me through the city! But then the blizzard came
sometimes plan b is far better than original plans
Going with the flow
& embracing real life
Shooting weddings and surprise proposals in Stockholm in winter I always have a plan B ready. Blizzards or heavy rains, sometimes the weather can really surprise us here and there is nothing much you can do about it other than embrace it. While some photographers really hate the unpredictability of the weather, I like to just go with the flow and offer my couples a quick alternative. Adding a romantic see-through umbrella to your photos if possible or hiding away in a romantic museum of art, I'm always prepared so you don't have to stress! In my experience this always helps keep couples calm and stress-free, staying focused on what they came to celebrate in front of my camera - each other.
City Hall ceremony & embracing the snowy surroundings
On the day of the wedding we all met in the courtyard of Stockholm City Hall. Because it was snowy and windy we were let into the Ceremony Hall almost immediately so we had some time to capture couple's portraits in its beautiful interior; something you can't pass on when getting married in Stockholm's City Hall! And then...it was time for the "I do's" and some snowy fun in the cold!
so what do you do when you don't feel like taking a photo walk through cold streets in your wedding dress?
You go to a museum of course!
Stockholm has so many beautiful museums set in breathtaking architecture pieces with even more breathtaking interiors and it would be shame not to use it when weather doesn't allow for exploring the streets of the city! Also, what is more romantic than celebrating your wedding day in this unique way, getting lost among art and culture?
pink Sky send-off
National Museum in Stockholm is set right in the heart of the city with breathtaking views over to Gamla Stan on one side and Strandvägen and Skeppsholmen on the other. When we were finished in the museum, we stepped out just in time for sunset and were surprised by these amazing pink skies that gave the couple the best send-off before leaving for celebration with their families!
