When The Streets Hold Your Story

Documenting what once was yours

Some places never leave you. For this couple, Stockholm is not just a destination—it’s a chapter of their love story.

When they traveled to Stockholm back in May, they reached out to me with the desire to document what once was their every day life- walking through streets of Södermalm, all the way down to the water at Hammarby Sjöstad, getting a coffee on the corner of the building where they once used to live...

So the theme of the photoshoot was clear - reminisce, be in love & capture old memories!

These are by far the most beautiful pictures someone has ever taken of me, and us, and I am so happy that we found you and everything came together for the wonderful shoot that we had! It was really so special to have our first shoot ever in a place that means so much to us, and you made us feel so comfortable while capturing moments and interactions that really feel like "us". I am sure we will look at these pictures until we are (hopefully) 80+ years old and I will always think it was the best investment.

Being the cinematic photographer with  documentary style of shooting I'm always beyond excited when I get to capture something so special as a place that already feels like home to you. Because the session truly transforms from "it's just a pretty backdrop" to  "emotion is the setting".

There's a special type of feeling to shooting in places that already mean so much to you.

More than Just a Pretty Backdrop

The Old Meets The New

We met at the corner of the building where the couple used to live for about 8 years. The main plan was to venture out into the streets they once walked daily and stop at an old familiar coffee place to grab a cup of coffee and reminisce.

When we arrived we realised the coffee place was closed and so I took them to this tiny ice cream spot that opened in the neighborhood in the past year. Funnily enough the area also belonged to one of my previous Stockholm chapters too and so it was a nostalgic feeling for both me and the couple.

Relaxed, Real, and Unscripted: My Approach to Couple Photoshoots in Stockholm

This entire session was filled with reminiscing and I absorbed it enthusiastically, just listening to all the couple's "remember when" documenting how they interacted, laughed, remembered funny little things about the corners we walked around. It had everything I always strive for my shoots to have - the lightness of being, the relaxed, no pressure flow of two people so into each other that they forget the camera and focus on the experience in the moment.

Your Story, Not a Script

One of the couple's wishes was to wander all the way down to the water at Hammarby Sjöstad to visit the area where they used to go for a run or spend their free time. We included a ferry ride through the area to further intensify the experience and then hopped off it at one of the docks continuing our roaming on foot, taking in all the character of rocking boats on the water as the sun was setting over Stockholm in the distance.
