Baby Cuddles & Picnic Breakfast

When Pernilla and John approached me in spring with a request to document their little family's memories and celebrate their daughter's 1st birthday, their vision was clear - Autumn colors are a must!
And so we booked the session and waited until October swooped in with all the brown & orange hues.
We met in my favourite, less-known area of Drottningholm on early morning and I was delighted to discover that they came armed with their daughter's favourite toys and beautifully-arranged picnic basket!
WORKING UP THE APPETITE FIRST
As in every session, I like to start with a few walking/running around photos to get everyone relaxed and used to the camera. Little Alva was just starting to walk so she was all eager to put her tiny feet on the ground and make her first steps between mom & dad. Funny fact - mom put her shoes on the opposite feet first but it didn't stop little Alva from trying!

What mesmerises your baby
The great thing about documenting families with babies is how amazingly mesmerised they get by the simple things. A fallen leave, a tree - it's so heartwarming to watch and photograph as they truly discover the world around them while being held & cuddled by their parents.
As Alva's parents shared during this session, she was in her phase of being absolutely fascinated with trees so I very much wanted to indulge her and let them discover the surroundings.

Picnic time means cuddle time
I love to always incorporate time some time during the session when we sit down and you have time to take in each other's presence. Children are much more eager to sit down and pay attention to parents once they got to explore their surroundings. That way nothing is forced and the cuddle time comes much more naturally.
In this case, little Alva was eager to look through her favourite book, taste her parents breakfast and explore what mom packed in their beautiful picnic baskets, which made for such a cozy beautiful time they spent together and can now remember forever.
